Surrey police investigate early morning arson at Linda Vista Motel
Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating an early morning arson at the Linda Vista Motel that caused fire and smoke damage to part of the property.
Police responded shortly after 4:45 a.m. on October 13, 2026, to reports of a fire at the motel in the 6400-block of King George Boulevard. Surrey Fire Services was already battling a blaze in the lobby, where a man allegedly threatened staff before setting the area on fire.
No injuries have been confirmed, and authorities do not believe any motel guests were displaced.
The suspect fled before police and firefighters arrived. He is described as a male in his 20s, approximately six feet tall with a large build, and was wearing dark-coloured clothing. His ethnicity is described as South Asian, White or Hispanic. Investigators say he may have left the area in a vehicle, but no vehicle description is available.
SPS’s Major Crime Unit and an arson investigator are working with Surrey Fire Services investigators to examine the scene and collect evidence. The investigation remains in its early stages, and the motive has not been determined.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident, including witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage from the area at the time, to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-110091 (SP).
