Man struck with hammer while riding e-scooter

Vancouver police are investigating an assault that occurred Monday evening near Gladstone Street and Vaness Avenue.

At about 10:30 p.m., a man was riding an e-scooter when an unidentified suspect approached him from behind on a silver bicycle and struck him in the face with a hammer.

Police also received a report from another person who said a man matching the same description threatened him with a hammer. No assault was reported in that incident.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 40s with a grey buzz cut and facial stubble. He was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt, black pants and black shoes while riding a silver bicycle.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed either incident, has dashcam footage, or has information that could help identify the suspect to contact police.
