Canada-India Trade Mission secures 34 commercial agreements worth nearly $300 million
International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu has concluded Canada's largest trade mission to India in 30 years, securing 34 commercial agreements valued at nearly $300 million.
The mission brought nearly 300 delegates from across Canada to Mumbai and Bengaluru to strengthen trade ties and expand business opportunities between the two countries.
During the visit, Sidhu met with India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, to advance negotiations toward a Canada-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The agreement aims to provide Canadian businesses with greater access to one of the world's fastest-growing economies. The two ministers have met 10 times since May 2025.
The trade mission focused on key sectors, including aerospace and space, clean technology, energy transition, information and communication technology, life sciences and agri-food.
In Mumbai, Sidhu participated in the Canada-India Business Council's annual forum and met with Yotta Data Services to discuss potential investments in Canada, including the establishment of an artificial intelligence innovation hub to support businesses and create well-paying jobs.
In Bengaluru, he took part in an aerospace roundtable with Canadian and Indian industry leaders to explore opportunities for collaboration.
Sidhu also visited and met with representatives of major Indian companies, including Air India and Dynamatic Technologies, to showcase Canadian expertise and identify new trade and investment opportunities.
Before the mission, Sidhu participated in the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Delhi, where he highlighted Canada's role as a reliable supplier of energy, critical minerals and agri-food products, as well as its commitment to strengthening global supply chains.
