Calgary man charged over alleged death threat against PM Mark Carney

A 31-year-old Calgary man has been charged after allegedly making a death threat against Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The RCMP’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, or INSET, launched an investigation after receiving a tip about a YouTube account that allegedly posted a threat against the prime minister.

With assistance from the Calgary Police Service, investigators arrested Jamie Da Costa. He has been charged with uttering a threat against the prime minister of Canada.

Da Costa appeared in the Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on September 15. The case was adjourned and is scheduled to return to court on Friday.

The allegations against Da Costa have not been proven in court.
