B.C. Conservatives eliminate $5M campaign debt ahead of schedule

The Conservative Party of BC says it is now debt-free after paying off its $5-million 2024 campaign debt a year earlier than planned.

In a statement released April 27, the party confirmed the final payment has been made, noting that less than three per cent of the total debt was repaid through leadership fees and remittances, with the majority covered by grassroots fundraising.

Executive Director Angelo Isidorou credited donors for the milestone, saying the party is now in a stronger financial position heading into the next election cycle, with funds already being built for future campaigns.

He added the party has seen significant growth in recent years, expanding its membership and improving its financial footing after narrowly missing a majority in the 2024 election.

Interim Leader Trevor Halford said his goal was to leave the party in better shape, expressing optimism about its continued momentum following the leadership race.
