Whitby firearm investigation leads to charges against two
Durham Regional Police say a 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman have been arrested in Whitby following a Gun and Gang Unit investigation into the alleged possession of a firearm.
On September 30, officers with the Gun and Gang Unit arrested Isaiah Annis, 22, and Ajonnah-Destiny Collins-Obrien, 19, near Dundas Street East and Garden Street.
Police say a search of the suspects resulted in the seizure of a loaded firearm with a prohibited over-capacity magazine.
Both face several firearm-related charges. Annis also faces three counts of failing to comply with a release order. Police say he was under conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons or cellphones and requiring him to remain at home.
Both accused were held for a bail hearing. The allegations have not been proven in court.
