A 45-year-old Toronto man has been charged with several firearms-related offences following a shooting at a commercial property in Vaughan.

York Regional Police responded to reports of gunfire near Weston Road and Langstaff Road at approximately 8:20 a.m. on August 19. Officers found that commercial premises had been damaged by gunfire. The business was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported.

Investigators identified a lone suspect, and on August 20, Felix ALGAI, 45, of Toronto, was arrested and charged. Police also executed a search warrant at a Toronto residence, where they seized ammunition and a substance believed to be cocaine.

ALGAI faces charges including reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a weapon contrary to a court order, failure to comply with a probation order, two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, and possession of a controlled substance.

Police say the firearm used in the shooting, believed to be an assault-style rifle, has not been recovered. Investigators believe the incident was isolated and are not looking for any additional suspects.
