Three arrested after Hamilton drug investigation leads to seizure of loaded handgun, fentanyl

Hamilton Police have arrested three people and seized a loaded handgun, fentanyl and suspected proceeds of crime following a drug investigation in the city's downtown core.

On July 15 at approximately 7 p.m., Division 10 patrol officers responded to a parking lot near John Street South and Jackson Street West after receiving reports of three individuals asleep inside a pickup truck who appeared to be intoxicated. Officers blocked the vehicle from leaving and, upon approaching it, observed suspected drugs in plain view.

All three occupants were arrested. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 32 grams of fentanyl, a loaded Glock handgun and a quantity of Canadian currency believed to be proceeds of crime.

The accused are a 37-year-old man from Flamborough, a 19-year-old man with no fixed address and a 36-year-old woman from Burlington. They collectively face multiple charges under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, including possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, operation while prohibited, possession of property obtained by crime, and several breach-related offences.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Hamilton Police Division 10 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
