Seven People Including Three Canadian Armed Forces Members Charged in Toronto Abduction Investigation

Toronto Police Service has arrested seven men and laid 82 charges following an investigation into the armed abduction of a cryptocurrency exchange owner. Police have also seized firearms, silencers, more than 2,700 rounds of ammunition and large quantities of illicit drugs.

Police shared this information in a news conference today and said the investigation began after officers responded to a reported abduction near Finch Avenue East and Bayview Avenue on July 25, 2026.

Investigators allege the victim was allegedly abducted at gunpoint, handcuffed and assaulted as suspects attempted to gain access to his cryptocurrency assets and business security systems. He was later released after being threatened and warned not to contact police.

Search warrants executed at multiple residences and vehicles led to the seizure of several firearms, two silencers, over-capacity magazines, knives, hatchets, GPS tracking devices and large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and other controlled substances. Police also determined that approximately 2,500 rounds of ammunition had been stolen from the Canadian Armed Forces.

The seven accused are Raheem Bishop-Jackson, 24; Saiefeddine Adem, 22; Talarambage Fernando, 22; James Moreau, 29; Christian Darbandi, 39; Jack Miley, 24; and Suhaib Alekozai, 39.

Police confirmed that Fernando, Moreau and Miley are members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The investigation, led by the Toronto Police Service's Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force Kidnapping Unit, remains ongoing as investigators continue examining the connections between the accused and the alleged abduction.
