Police are searching for a male suspect and a vehicle linked to two separate overnight shootings that targeted synagogues in Vaughan and Toronto earlier this year.

The investigation, led by the York Regional Police Firearms Investigations Team and Hate Crime Prevention Unit in partnership with the Toronto Police Service Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force, stems from incidents that occurred on March 6 and 7, 2026.

According to investigators, the first shooting took place just before midnight on March 6 in the area of Clark Avenue West and York Hill Boulevard in Vaughan. Officers responding to reports of gunshots found the front doors of a synagogue damaged by gunfire. Two individuals were inside at the time but were not injured.

Shortly after midnight on March 7, a second shooting was reported at a synagogue near Bathurst Street and Glencairn Avenue in Toronto. Police located damage to the building’s front entrance consistent with gunfire. No one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Following a joint forces investigation, authorities have released images of a suspect and a vehicle believed to be connected to both incidents.

A court order issued on April 30 permits the public release of the suspect’s image for five days, as he is believed to be a youth. The image may be circulated until 11:59 p.m. on May 4, 2026.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately six feet to six-foot-two in height, with a thin build and black curly hair.

Police say the suspect vehicle is believed to be an older model, black, four-door Honda Civic.

Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact the York Regional Police Firearms Investigations Team at 1-866-876-5423, extension 7817. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
