Police Charge Oakville Man, Seek Additional Victims in Sexual Assault Investigation
Halton Regional Police say that a 25-year-old Oakville man is facing charges following the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl and seeking additional victims.
Police said in a news release that the alleged incident took place in late 2025 after the teenage victim met with the accused in Oakville. Investigators say the victim did not suffer any physical injuries.
Canaan (Cane) Meister was arrested on July 19 and charged with one count of Sexual Assault and one count of Sexual Interference. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
Investigators also say Meister is currently involved with youth minor hockey in the Oakville and Burlington areas and have released his photograph as they continue the investigation. Halton police believe that there may be more victims of such incidents who are being advised to speak with police. Anyone with information, or who believes they may have been victimized by the accused, is asked to contact the Halton Regional Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit or Crime Stoppers.
