Niagara Falls man charged in animal cruelty investigation

Police say that a 55-year-old Niagara Falls man has been charged following an animal cruelty investigation involving a severely emaciated cat.

Niagara Regional Police Service says inevstigators were contacted by Provincial Animal Welfare Services on October 3 after a concerned citizen rescued the cat from a motel in the Lundy’s Lane and Montrose Road area in Niagara Falls in late September.

The cat was found severely emaciated and bound. It was taken to an animal hospital but was later euthanized because of its condition. The animal hospital contacted PAWS.

Police say investigators searched the motel room on October 5 after obtaining judicial authorization and found materials believed to have been used to bind the animal.

Peter Krsul of Niagara Falls was arrested at the scene and charged with causing damage or injury to an animal and bestiality. He was held for a bail hearing on October 6 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-688-4111, extension 1009383.
