Hamilton Man Charged After Targeted Shooting Injures Two

Hamilton Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old Hamilton man with attempted murder following a targeted shooting that injured two people Friday afternoon.

Police responded to the area of King Street East and Lawrence Road at approximately 2:12 p.m. on September 18, 2026, after receiving reports of a shooting. Officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds and provided assistance. Both were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say that Darien Wilson, 18, was arrested shortly after the incident and faces several charges, including attempted murder, discharge of a firearm with intent to injure, reckless discharge of a firearm, and two counts of aggravated assault.

He is also charged with possession of a loaded restricted firearm and possession of a restricted firearm knowing its possession was unauthorized. Police say a firearm was recovered.

Hamilton police say its shooting Response Team is leading the investigation, with the Homicide Unit now assisting following the attempted murder charge. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.

Police are asking anyone with information or video from the area, including dashcam, residential security or cellphone footage to come forward and contact police.
