Four charged after string of residential break-ins in York Region
Investigators with the York Regional Police have arrested and charged four suspects in connection with a string of residential break-ins across York Region and the Greater Toronto Area as part of “Project Towns.”
Police say the investigation began in April 2026 after a series of break-and-enters targeting homes throughout York Region. Investigators allege the suspects entered residences through rear basement glass doors and stole cash, jewellery, high-end clothing, and firearms.
According to police, the suspects are believed to be part of an organized crime-tourism group linked to at least 20 residential break-ins.
On May 13, 2026, at around 10 p.m., officers responded to a reported break-and-enter near Clark Avenue and Dufferin Street in Vaughan. Investigators located the suspect vehicle and arrested three individuals.
Police later executed search warrants at homes in Toronto and Mississauga, where a fourth suspect was taken into custody. Officers also recovered stolen property and seized break-in tools along with a radio-frequency jammer.
The accused have been identified as 24-year-old Jose Ricardo Vargas Sepulveda, 24-year-old Rodrigo Ariel Correa Paredes, 44-year-old Danil Alexis Carrasco Cruces and 27-year-old Rose Marie Monroy Sepulveda, all from Chile.
Investigators say the suspects face multiple charges including break and enter with intent, break and enter commit, disguise with intent, possession of break-in instruments and possession of property obtained by crime.
Two of the accused were also charged with failing to comply with judicial release orders.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are expected
