CBSA to end Commercial Driver Registration Program on sep.1
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced it will end the Commercial Driver Registration Program (CDRP) effective September 1, 2026, citing low participation and overlap with the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) program.
Applications submitted on or before September 1, 2026, will still be processed, and existing CDRP membership cards will remain valid until they expire.
The CBSA is encouraging commercial drivers who want to continue receiving Trusted Trader benefits to apply for the FAST program, which provides access to dedicated lanes and expedited border clearance at participating ports of entry in both Canada and the United States.
The CBSA said it is working with the trucking industry, commercial carriers and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition before the CDRP is discontinued.
