Brampton Woman Charged in Mercedes Financing Fraud Investigation

A 39-year-old Brampton woman has been charged after allegedly using another person’s identity to obtain financing for a 2027 Mercedes SUV.

Durham Regional Police say the suspect submitted an online vehicle purchase application on Sept. 30, 2026, using the victim’s identification documents, including a Canadian passport displaying the suspect’s photograph.

The victim was notified before the vehicle was released and reported the suspected identity fraud to police and the dealership.

On Oct. 8, Skylar Porter was arrested without incident when she attended the dealership to complete the transaction and take possession of the vehicle.

Porter faces five charges, including fraud over $5,000, uttering a forged document, personation, possession of an identity document and possession of cocaine. She was released on an undertaking.
