Brampton Man Charged Over Smuggled Firearm Suppressors
A 47 year old Brampton resident is facing multiple criminal charges after federal border authorities uncovered an alleged attempt to smuggle prohibited firearm suppressors into Ontario. The enforcement action stems from an investigation led by the Canada Border Services Agency's (CBSA) specialized Ontario Firearms Smuggling Enforcement Team (OFSET).
The inquiry began on July 23, 2026, when border services officers stationed at a Mississauga commercial facility intercepted an international parcel arriving from the United States. A search of the package revealed two complete firearm suppressors, leading investigators from OFSET to identify Nasser Gholami as the intended recipient.
Following up on the interception, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Gholami’s Brampton residence on September 24, 2026. The search yielded three non-restricted firearms one of which had an illegal suppressor attached—along with ammunition and digital evidence.
Gholami was subsequently taken into custody and charged with four offenses under the Customs Act, Criminal Code, and Firearms Act, including smuggling prohibited devices, unauthorized importation, illegal possession of a prohibited device, and unsafe display of a firearm.
The accused has been released on conditions and is scheduled to make his first court appearance at the Brampton Courthouse on November 5, 2026.
