26-year-old charged with second-degree murder in Hamilton stabbing death

Hamilton Police have charged 26-year-old Hamilton resident Kyle Dumont-McArthur with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of 21-year-old Zenin Roussel.

Police were called to the area of Main Street West and Frid Street at approximately 2:27 p.m. on August 9, 2026, after a taxi driver reported a stabbing. Officers located Roussel suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators determined that Roussel and the accused had been at King Street Billiards before the incident. After the establishment closed, a verbal altercation took place outside on King Street West. Police have not determined what led to the confrontation.

The two men left the area separately but encountered each other approximately 10 minutes later near Main Street West and Frid Street, where Roussel was stabbed.

Dumont-McArthur was arrested without incident on August 11 and made his first court appearance on August 12, facing a charge of second-degree murder.

Police said four other people witnessed the incident, and all have since been identified and interviewed.

Investigators continue to appeal for information and are asking anyone with relevant video footage to contact police at 905-546-4123.
