From Kikar & Tahli to punjab's flowering landscape

In this interview, Dr. Raman Gill discusses her book Beginnings of Landscape Architecture in Punjab, dedicated to her late father, Hari Singh Sandhu. She takes us back to a time when Punjab's landscape was largely dominated by Kikar (Acacia) and Tahli (Shisham/Indian rosewood), and shares the story of how ornamental and flowering plants were introduced to the region as part of Dr. M.S. Randhawa's vision for landscaping Punjab.

Dr. Gill's late father, Hari Singh Sandhu, played a role in bringing that vision to life. His work and the memories surrounding it became the inspiration for her book, documenting the beginnings of landscape architecture and the transformation of Punjab's landscape.
