WestJet flight disruptions continue as Airline recovers from labour stoppage

Flight disruptions are continuing at WestJet as the airline works to restore its schedule following a brief labour stoppage over the long weekend.

According to aviation analytics company Cirium, 16 WestJet flights scheduled for Tuesday had been cancelled as of around 11 a.m. Eastern Time.

The latest cancellations follow a difficult Monday, when more than 300 WestJet flights—about 62 per cent of the airline's scheduled operations—were cancelled, despite the company reaching a tentative agreement early that morning with the union representing approximately 4,400 flight attendants.

WestJet says it will take time to return to normal operations as it repositions aircraft and flight crews across its network. The airline has assured passengers that additional updates on its recovery plan will be provided as more information becomes available.

In a statement, WestJet spokesperson Ashley Tymko said the airline has resumed operations and is now focused on the recovery phase following the labour disruption.

Passengers are being advised to check the status of their flights before travelling to the airport, as delays and cancellations may continue while the airline restores its full schedule.
