Man charged after Northeast Calgary shooting; Police search for two more suspects

A 22-year-old man has been charged following a shooting in northeast Calgary early Sunday morning, while police continue searching for two additional suspects believed to be involved.

Calgary police responded at approximately 3 a.m. to reports of a shooting near the Samosa House at 104 Avenue N.E. and Métis Trail. Investigators say the incident occurred after a fight outside the nearby Head Over Heels lounge, located in the same shopping plaza.

According to police, a man was shot at during the altercation but was not injured.

Witnesses reported seeing a grey 2019 Dodge Charger with Alberta licence plate CTJ 0073 leaving the area at a high rate of speed. With assistance from the Calgary Police Service helicopter unit (HAWCS), officers located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver.

Police say a loaded Canik TP9SFX 9mm handgun was recovered from inside the vehicle.

Gurshish Singh Brar, 22, has been charged with discharging a firearm with intent and unauthorized possession of a firearm. He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Investigators are continuing to search for two additional suspects, both described as men between the ages of 20 and 30.
