Global pipeline industry to gather in Calgary for International Pipeline Conference

More than 8,000 pipeline industry professionals from around the world will gather in Calgary Sept. 21–25 for the International Pipeline Conference & Expo (IPCE), one of the sector's largest technical and commercial events.

Held at the BMO Centre, the biennial conference marks 30 years since its founding in 1996 and is expected to attract more than 1,300 conference delegates and over 300 exhibiting companies.

Organizers say this year's exhibition is 40 per cent larger than the previous event, reflecting renewed momentum in pipeline infrastructure investment.

The event combines a five-day technical conference, hosted by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in collaboration with the Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI), with a three-day exhibition showcasing advances in pipeline integrity, inspection, automation, digitalization and infrastructure technologies.

More than 400 technical presentations and over 20 complimentary Knowledge Bar sessions will cover topics ranging from artificial intelligence and robotics to hydrogen and carbon dioxide transportation.

The conference comes as pipeline infrastructure is receiving renewed attention in Canada and globally amid growing focus on energy security and export diversification.

Recent developments include the completion of the Trans Mountain Expansion and construction of Enbridge's $4-billion Sunrise Expansion Program in British Columbia.

Organizers say the conference will bring together engineers, operators, researchers, regulators and technology providers to discuss the future of safe, reliable and resilient pipeline infrastructure.
