Civilian Calgary police employee charged for allegedly misusing confidential database
A civilian employee of the Calgary Police Service has been charged after allegedly misusing police databases for non-police matters.
The investigation began in December 2025 after reports that confidential information had been improperly accessed. Authorities say the employee allegedly used internal systems between February and August 2025 to look up information about individuals with whom she had, or wanted to have, personal relationships. Four people were identified as victims and have been notified.
On April 7, 2026, Kayla Jessen was arrested and charged with nine offences related to unauthorized access and collection of personal data under Protection of Privacy Act.
Police seized her phone during a March search. Jessen, a three-year employee currently on leave, has been released and is scheduled to appear in court on June 2, 2026.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234.
