Canada to award more Express Entry points for high-wage jobs starting November 3

Canada will award additional Express Entry points to candidates with eligible Canadian work experience or qualifying job offers in high-wage occupations starting November 3, 2026.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada announced the changes October 16, saying the move aims to attract skilled workers in sectors such as health care, engineering, technology, education and skilled trades.

The changes will also remove the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) requirement for qualifying job offers to receive the new points, while employers must still meet program requirements.

Existing Express Entry candidates will have their scores automatically recalculated. However, those seeking points for qualifying job offers must update their profiles before November 3.

Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab says the changes will help Canada attract and retain skilled newcomers who can support economic growth and meet labour market needs.
