Calgary Police Seize $8.8 Million in Drugs and Cash, Charge Four Men

Calgary police have charged four men after seizing more than $8.8 million worth of drugs and cash in an investigation into an alleged drug distribution network operating in Calgary and Edmonton.

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) Drug Unit launched the investigation in June 2026 after identifying a residence suspected of being linked to drug trafficking. Over the following four months, investigators identified four suspects and received support from 16 CPS units, the Edmonton Police Service, RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency.

Police obtained 18 judicial authorizations and executed nine search warrants at residences and vehicles. On Oct. 8, searches were conducted at five properties — four in Calgary and one in Cochrane.

The seizures included 40.3 kilograms of powder cocaine, 6.9 kilograms of MDMA, 4.3 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1.6 kilograms of fentanyl, 654 grams of crack cocaine and 31 grams of ketamine.

Officers also seized 298,452 prescription pills, including Xanax, codeine, oxycodone, Percocet, Dilaudid and cychlorphine, along with more than $2 million in Canadian and U.S. currency. Police estimated the total value of the seized drugs at $6.8 million.

The four accused are Tomas Bahta, 19, Mohammed Ibrahim, 31, Fozee Ibrahim, 29, all of Calgary, and Aidan Saunders, 29, of Cochrane. They face various charges related to possession of property obtained by crime and possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking.

Mohammed Ibrahim was remanded in custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 16, 2026. The other three men were released from custody and have court appearances scheduled for Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, 2026.

Police described the seizure as one of the largest in Calgary Police Service history.
