Calgary Police seize $1.2M in drugs, record $1M cash haul

Police have seized more than $1.2 million worth of drugs and over $1 million in cash following an investigation in Calgary.

Members of Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT), assisted by Calgary police and RCMP, searched a home in Skyview Ranch on July 30. Two other homes in Harvest Hills and Rocky Ridge, along with two vehicles, were also searched.

Investigators seized suspected fentanyl, MDMA, methamphetamine, cocaine and cannabis, as well as a Taser and tracking devices.

ALERT says the cash seizure, valued at more than $1 million, is believed to be the largest single cash seizure in the agency’s history.

Kerry Lu, 36, and Donald Ng, 51, are facing several charges, including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and possession of a prohibited weapon.
