Calgary Police officer charged with assault
A Calgary Police Service constable has been charged with assault following an incident during an arrest earlier this year.
Const. Imran Khan, a six-year veteran of the Calgary Police Service, is accused of using excessive force by repeatedly punching an individual during an arrest on May 22, 2025.
The assault charge was recommended after an investigation and consultation with the Edmonton Crown Prosecutor’s Office.
Khan was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 6.
The Calgary Police Service says the officer has been suspended with pay while it reviews his employment status.
