Bear warning issued for Fish Creek provincial park after multiple sightings

Alberta Parks has issued a bear warning for several areas of Fish Creek Provincial Park following multiple sightings of a black bear.

The advisory was issued Friday and covers Bebo Grove, Shannon Terrace and Votier’s Flats, where the bear has reportedly been spotted during peak daylight hours.

Officials are reminding visitors that bears can be encountered at any time. People using the park are advised to make plenty of noise, travel in groups and remain alert for bears or signs of bear activity.

Visitors are also being urged to keep pets on a leash and carry bear spray in an easily accessible location. Alberta Parks recommends that people know how to use bear spray before heading into bear country.

Food, garbage and other items that could attract wildlife should be properly secured in hard-sided vehicles or bear-proof storage lockers.
