ALERT Seizes More Than $7 Million in Drugs in Major Alberta Investigation

A 10-month ALERT investigation has resulted in one of the agency’s largest-ever drug seizures, targeting a province-wide trafficking network.

Police seized more than $7 million worth of drugs, $1.16 million in cash, 7 firearms, and eight vehicles during searches in Edmonton, Calgary, St. Albert, and Sturgeon County. The cash seizure is the largest in ALERT’s 20-year history.

The drugs recovered include 66 kilograms of cocaine, 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl, 3,494 suspected fentanyl pills, 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 2.3 kilograms of psilocybin mushrooms.

Investigators say traffickers used sophisticated hidden compartments inside vehicles to move drugs and cash between Edmonton and Calgary. The seized firearms, including six handguns and 11 rifles, will undergo ballistics testing.

Several suspects have been arrested, but no charges have been laid as the investigation, which began in November 2025, remains ongoing.
